Photography Contests:
Scholastic Art and Writing Awards
- Annual event open to students grades 7-12.
- Students may submit individual works or submit a portfolio.
- To be considered for this contest, works must be submitted by November 4th.
- Please see Mrs. Temple for more information if you are interested.
Sony World Photography Awards
- Open to anyone 19 or under.
- Enter up to 3 images into one category or across all three.
- The three categories are:
for expressions and passing glances that might otherwise go unnoticed and push the boundaries of what can be achieved within a
portrait, the most traditional of photographic styles.
2. Environment - Capture your local environment through a photograph; perhaps you want to illustrate the naturally beautiful qualities
of your environment, or highlight an issue which is having a negative effect on it.
3. Culture - What does culture mean to you? Take a photograph that depicts your take on culture; it could be your local youth culture
and social gatherings, a culture you have immersed yourself in whilst traveling, traditions amongst a tight-knit community or
large-scale cultural gatherings such as festivals.

- All submissions must be in via the website by January 5th.
PSA Youth Showcase
- Open to all high school students ages 13-18.
- You may submit multiple works to be considered.
- Identify which of the 6 categories you are submitting to:
2. People/Animals - An individual or a group of people and/or animals.
3. Scapes - A scene as of land, sea, city, clouds, etc. Nature photographs, including macro, would also fall into this category.
4. Photojournalism - A photo recounting a story or news item. (These images cannot be manipulated in any way.)
5. Color Choice/Creative - Open color category. All subjects, photographic techniques, and manipulations are acceptable.
6. Monochrome Choice/Creative - Open monochrome category. All subjects, photographic techniques, and manipulations are acceptable.
- All entries must be submitted as finalized, edited jpegs to Mrs. Temple by March 6th.
- There will be a preliminary judging to decide which 16 images will be submitted into the national competition.
Audubon Photography Awards
- Open to all high school students 13 to 17 years old as part of the youth competition
- Your photographs must depict birdlife.
- Entries must be submitted by March 9th.
- Please see Mrs. Temple by February 15th if you need help choosing or editing work.
